W1NNING by Tim Grover: The Relentless Race For Greatness!

gold and blue trophy on red surface

“This is about what you’ll go through in the race for greatness. It’s about the blood on your hands from a tug-of-war with a ghost you can’t see, up to your ankles in shit, surrounded by others trying to bury you in it. The unbearable loneliness and exhaustion. The intense fear of what’s ahead for you, and what isn’t.“       ~Tim S. Grover W1NNING

What it takes to win

This book takes you through the raw reality of building something, from nothing.  If you have big dreams, and you are willing to do the work required to make those dreams come true, this book will take you through what to expect.  This is not some ra ra, we’re all winners, how to, type book.  This is a gut check.  An unapologetic kick in the ass.  The raw truth, about what it takes to win.

The Winning 13

Tim Grover breaks the book down into 13 parts, which he calls the winning 13.  He shares stories, thoughts, and insights, as he explains these topics and how they relate to winning at the highest level.  He tells it like it is, no fluff, just pure truth.  I absolutely loved this book and have listened to it numerous times on Audible, as well as bought the hard cover copy.

You don’t have to be a huge sports fan to benefit from this book, but I personally enjoyed the sports stories.  I have always been a huge Michael Jordan fan, and knew he was talented, but never thought about his discipline, drive, and all the extra work he put in, as well as what he went through daily, to be who he is.  This book is not a Michael Jordan story, but Jordan, as well as other basketball stars Grover helped, are mentioned throughout.

Tim Grover Gets It!

Tim Grover describes things in a way that you know, he not only gets it, but he’s lived it.  I mean look at his track record, and the people he has helped.  This book gives you a true perspective on what it is like when you are trying to turn a dream into a reality, whether you want to win NBA championships, or launch and run, a successful business.  Most people see the wins and the celebrations, but not what it took to get there. This book gives you a personal first hand look at what it is like going through the day to day. The battles you fight, and what winning actually takes on a mental level.  I also recommend another book by Tim Grover, titled Relentless, as well as the espn documentary on the Chicago Bulls, during Jordans era, titled “The Last Dance.” https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B08D39P7SZ/ref=atv_dp_share_cu_r

The three compliment each other beautifully.

If you have goals in life, read this book by Tim Grover!

This is a raw, real, down and dirty account of what winning actually is.  What it takes, and what you will go through in your attempts to catch it.  If you are looking for someone to give you a hug. Someone to tell you how wonderful you are because you showed up.  If you are looking for secret, easy shortcuts.  Then this is not the book for you.  If you want a raw, real, factual account of what people who achieve at the highest levels go through, then this is your book!  This book not only tells you what it takes to win, it explains what you will go through mentally, as well as where you need to be mentally.  I think anyone can benefit from reading this, especially someone starting a business, or anyone with big personal goals.
